Research Notes
From the notes of Heather Sims:
John Durie had a brother George Durie, christened in 1779. I have assumed this is the same man who has the wife and children attached. George’s sons George and David worked at Buxley and Barnes mines respectively, so there is definitely some link with John Durie.
From a letter written by James Watson to his cousin John Durie’s son Robert Durie on 27 November 1913:
Several of the family of a cousin or second cousins who died leaving a large young family was brought up to farm work by him at Buxley and most of these have left descendants living.
From the above I think the man who died is likely to be this man – John’s brother George Durie.
